Travel Intelligence
The practical answers — visas, money, weather, and getting around — so the only thing left to plan is which tour to book.
Visa & Entry
Most nationalities can get a Cambodia e-Visa online before arrival, or a visa on arrival at major airports and land borders. Passports should have at least six months validity remaining.
Best Time To Visit
The dry season (November–April) is the most popular window, with December–February the coolest and most comfortable. The wet season (May–October) brings lush green landscapes and thinner crowds.
Currency & Money
The US dollar is used everywhere alongside the Cambodian riel, which mainly appears as small change. ATMs are common in cities; carry smaller bills for markets and tuk-tuks.
Getting Around
Tuk-tuks and ride-hailing apps cover most in-town trips. For longer distances, private cars or vans are the most comfortable option; domestic flights connect Phnom Penh and Siem Reap quickly.
Health & Safety
Cambodia is generally safe for travelers. Drink bottled or filtered water, use sun protection, and consider travel insurance that covers activities like cycling or boat trips.
What To Pack
Light, breathable clothing, a hat, sun protection, and modest coverage (shoulders and knees) for visiting temples. A light rain jacket is worth packing in the wet season.
Local Etiquette
A small bow with hands together (the sampeah) is a respectful greeting. Remove shoes before entering homes and some temple buildings, and dress modestly at religious sites.
Connectivity
Local SIM cards and eSIMs are cheap and widely available at the airport and in cities, with reliable 4G coverage across most tourist areas.
